To the administration of Statesman Newspaper
There has now, again been an accumulation in the backlog in the pay of sub-editors worth five months of wages. In my brief experience with the company, this is the third such instance (Since the 16th of September, 2018).
During this most recent period, we in the Kolkata office came to work amidst a nation-wide lockdown in a global pandemic, as well as when the state was battered by cyclone Amphan.
Further, on the occasion of our last meeting with the Editor – we were told that we may expect increments; this too has yet to come about.
We request that the administration honor its commitments, failing which – at least inform us as to why this situation seems to arise repeatedly.

respectfully,
*My pay as a sub-editor for the Statesman newspaper office in Kolkata is 12,400 rs a month. By my estimation there are at least eight sub-editors still employed in this office. Presuming we are paid the same - that would be a backlog of a little under 5 lakhs, or five hundred thousand rupees. These estimates do not take into account any other employees in this organisation.
